About Me

I'm Alex Amelia Pine, but you can call me Alex. I'm a proud trans woman (she/it), polyamorous lesbian, as well as a notorious gamer, writer, and tea-drinker! I've always been a storyteller at heart, whether that's in the form of writing/drawing comics, narrative fiction, or video game development. I love building worlds, writing characters, and setting off events that make people think and feel in both new and familiar ways. I'm almost entirely self-taught in this sense, writing purely for the love of the craft, and slowly honing my skills to try and be the best storyteller I can be. My writing is influenced by many factors, including things that interest me and things that affect my day-to-day life. Being autistic, a trans woman, a lesbian, and more are integral experiences to me as a person, and so those things shine through in everything I make. I believe in love, acceptance, support, and unity, and I write with the hope that those values can someday leave the page and enter the world through someone I impacted with my art.

The enshittification of the Internet is tragic, and ultimately showed me that I needed a place to call mine. To that end, this site was created on November 9, 2023 with the intent to have something to call my own, seperate from any kind of social media platform, where I can host anything I want to call mine. It has continued to evolve and grow with me as my coding skills have improved and my portfolio has expanded. My hope for this site is that it will be a place to house all of my projects in progress, my various thoughts in the form of articles and blogs, and finished works, as well as places you can support me.

At the moment, my focus is on writing for my Patreon, with free content also being available here. I try to diversify my genres that I write, but I also keep a consistent theme of prose storytelling with a focus on character and emotion. I've always been particularly fond of the fantasy genre, so I have many stories churning in a world of my own, but I also have lots of stories with other settings and themes to unveil soon! My current major project is a sci-fantasy serialization called The Gaia Machine, a story about a robotgirl who wakes up after a millennium idle, and finds that the world she knew has collapsed and disappeared in a kind of dark age. She steps into a world that has reformed without her, and attempts to make her way in a foreign era, piecing together the past that she missed. New chapters come out at the end of every month!

I also do art from time to time, mostly OCs but also the occasional fanart if I feel so inclined. Historically I've worked mostly in traditional art, but I also enjoy using limited tools art tools, like programs on the Nintendo DSi or dated PC software. Most of my art that's been posted online has been done in a combination of Flipnote Studio for DSiWare, Nintendo 3DS Game Notes, or Miiverse (as run by Pretendo Network). My profile picture, for example, was drawn on Miiverse, then downloaded for coloring and editing! I occasionally post my doodles online, but I also plan to post even more of them, alongside little 4-panel comics, on my Patreon as supporter bonuses.

Last but certainly not least is my game development interests. Gaming has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember, and there's never been a time where I haven't been thinking about the idea of making a game. My progress is incredibly slow, as I'm not only learning everything from scratch, but also not putting a whole lot of focus on it right now. I've downloaded RPG Maker VX Ace and Godot to experiment with game engines, as well as Aseprite as a starting art program, and Furnace to experiment with sound/music. My main project is an RPG from the lineage of games like EarthBound, Deltarune, etc. Content on that will be posted under the Project Gaia page. Anything else I make will likely be posted in that same Projects section.

I think about making music all the time, but I'm far too busy with everything else to even entertain that idea right now.

I run three main blogs on this site: my blog blog for blogging, my game blog for gaming, and my writing blog for writing. Basically if it's not strictly gaming or writing, it goes on the blog blog. All three of them send notifications via the Recent Posts section on the homepage, and also via RSS. The blog blog is more active than either of the other two, but at the very least the game blog has a monthly series called What I've Been Playing!, and the writing blog crossposts monthly updates from my Patreon.

About Site Updates

I try to update the site regularly, whether that's for new features, general work that I'm putting out into the World Wide Web, or just fun little things! Important changes may also be noted in the marquee on the homepage, as well as news and other alerts. You can also view the changelog here.
